  1. two passes at Grade C or better at Advanced Matriculation Level or equivalent in English and Maltese, and three passes at Intermediate Matriculation Level or equivalent, one of which at grade C or better, in subjects chosen as follows: one subject from Group 2, one subject from Group 3, and another subject (except English and Maltese) or
  2. a degree at MQF level 6 in any area of study awarded by the University of Malta or any other higher education institution recognized by Senate, and a pass at Grade C or better at Advanced Matriculation level or equivalent in Maltese,
  3. provided that if the degree is in Maltese a pass at Grade C or better at Advanced Matriculation Level or equivalent in English is also required.

The Faculty Admissions Committee will consider applications from mature applicants (adult learners) only from those who; are in possession of Advanced Level passes at Grade C or better in both Maltese and English, and have applied for the course by 31 August 2025 at 2pm. Such applicants will be called to attend an interview.

The Bachelor of Laws (Honours) degree provides a comprehensive knowledge of and training in the core legal subjects of a substantive law nature. The main areas of the law which will be covered during the course include Public Law, Civil Law, Criminal Law, International Law, Commercial Law, Environmental and Resources Law, Media, Communications and Technology Law, Legal History and Methodology and European and Comparative Law. The course requires you as a prospective student to acquire a detailed knowledge of the basic principles of law and also good knowledge of substantive law. Various elective study units are offered throughout the course which you must sit for end of semester examinations. You are also encouraged to participate in the Erasmus+ mobility learning period in the first semester of your final year of studies, as we believe a diverse and multicultural academic journey will make you better practitioners of the law.

Communication and Academic Skills Programme

The communication and academic skills programme complements students’ main course of study. It introduces them to writing and presenting as situated within academic contexts sensitive to specific disciplines and develops their competences for future careers.

By the end of the course, you will:

  • Demonstrate an ability to develop a research proposal and carry out independent research
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of research skills and methods applicable to a particular field
  • Have gained the ability to analyse particular issues in different fields of law
  • Be capable of advancing their knowledge in their chosen area of focus and thus, be eligible to follow post-graduate degree courses in law.
